I came to British Columbia looking for space, comfort, and landscapes that feel bigger than the journey itself. Summer is when this province opens fully. Roads are clear. Lakes are calm. The air smells like pine and salt. Traveling here as a luxury traveler does not mean rushing between highlights. It means choosing depth, privacy, and the best possible vantage point.

Ten days turned out to be the perfect amount of time to experience British Columbia at a relaxed, indulgent pace.

Why ten days works in British Columbia

British Columbia is vast. Distances matter. Ten days allows you to combine city, coast, mountains, and wine country without feeling like you are constantly packing and unpacking.

This itinerary balances refined lodges, scenic drives, exceptional food, and time to simply be present in the landscape.

Days 1 and 2: Vancouver, polished and natural

I began in Vancouver, a city that manages to feel cosmopolitan and outdoorsy at the same time. I stayed downtown near Coal Harbour, where the harbor, mountains, and skyline sit comfortably together.

The first day was about easing in. A walk along the Seawall. A long lunch in Yaletown. A quiet evening with views over the water.

On the second day, I explored Stanley Park by bike, stopping often to take in the totem poles, beaches, and forested paths. In the afternoon, I crossed over to Granville Island for artisan food, galleries, and relaxed shopping.

Vancouver does luxury without flash. Quality speaks for itself.

Days 3 and 4: Vancouver Island and the calm of Victoria

A scenic ferry ride took me to Vancouver Island, where the pace immediately softened. Victoria feels British and Pacific at once.

I checked into a waterfront hotel and spent the afternoon strolling the Inner Harbour, visiting the Royal BC Museum, and enjoying afternoon tea with a view.

The following day was about nature. I visited the Butchart Gardens, a masterpiece of color and design in full summer bloom. In the evening, I enjoyed fresh seafood and local wine as the sun lingered late into the night.

Days 5 and 6: Whistler, mountains in summer

From the island, I returned to the mainland and drove the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler. This drive alone is worth the trip. Waterfalls, ocean views, and dramatic cliffs unfold steadily.

Whistler in summer is surprisingly refined. I stayed in a luxury lodge just outside the village, close enough for dining and far enough for quiet.

One day was spent riding the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, taking in panoramic alpine views. The next was for spa time, lakeside walks, and relaxed mountain dining.

Luxury here feels earned through elevation and silence.

Days 7 and 8: Okanagan Valley wine country

A short flight brought me to the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia’s answer to wine country. Summer here is warm and dry, with vineyards stretching toward the lake.

I stayed at a vineyard estate near Kelowna. Mornings were slow. Coffee overlooking the vines. Afternoons were for private tastings and lakeside relaxation.

The following day included a guided wine tour with a sommelier, paired lunches, and a sunset boat cruise on Okanagan Lake.

This was indulgence without excess. Just space, flavor, and time.

Days 9 and 10: Tofino and the Pacific edge

For the final chapter, I flew back to Vancouver Island and continued on to Tofino. This is British Columbia at its most elemental and most luxurious.

I stayed in a remote oceanfront lodge where floor to ceiling windows faced the Pacific. Mornings began with mist and ended with long coastal walks.

One day was dedicated to wildlife spotting by boat. The next to hot spring soaking, beach fires, and simply watching the ocean move.

Tofino demands nothing from you. It gives everything quietly.

Leaving British Columbia

Ten days in British Columbia left me restored rather than exhausted. This is a destination that understands luxury as access. Access to nature. To silence. To thoughtful service and unhurried experiences.

Summer is when everything aligns here. The weather. The light. The sense of possibility.

As a luxury traveler, I found British Columbia confident and understated. Exactly the kind of place that does not need to prove anything to anyone.
